STUDENTS’ VALENTINE
BALL RAISES DISASTER
FUNDS
Love
might just be in
the air at
Calderdale College’s
first Valentine Ball,
organised by students
in aid of the Asian
Earthquake Disaster
Fund and to be held
at North Bridge Leisure
Centre on Friday
(10 February).
Students
will be able to
donate money
for a dance with
their ‘dream
date’ in a
dance auction, buy
roses and pay for
the opportunity to
write ‘love
heart messages’ on
the wall to people
they have a crush
on.
“It’s
a fun way of raising
money for a cause
that’s very
important to us”,
said Student Union
President, Ryan Doran,
17, who is studying
Information & Computer
Technology at the
College. “We’ve
already raised £650
in various events
since October and
are working towards
a contribution of £5,000
to establish a school
in Pakistan.”
Michelle
Adams, 18, who
is studying
for a diploma in
Childcare & Education
added “This
is the first formal
ball that we’ve
organised and we’re
looking forward to
getting dressed up
and having an amazing
night out. Students
throughout the College
have been involved,
including ‘Skills
for Life’ learners
who have put together
some fantastic decorations”.
