SUMMER CONSTRUCTION SKILLS COURSE TO BOOST
EMPLOYMENT
Places are still available on an eight week
intensive course in construction skills at
the North Halifax Skills Centre in Ovenden,
starting Tuesday 1 August. The long term unemployed
may be able to attend the course without it
affecting their benefits, thanks to a special
arrangement with Jobcentre Plus.
“Jobcentre Plus can support learners
to do the course with a training allowance,
transport and childcare costs if they’re
over 25 and have been on Jobseekers Allowance
for six months or more”, explained Ruth
Stead, manager of the North Halifax Skills
Centre in Club Lane, which is run by Calderdale
College. “The course leads to a level
one qualification in trowel trades and we hope
that learners will then progress to level two
to help them gain employment. It’s open
to anyone, men and women, and we recommend
that those interested should contact us straightaway”.
More information on the course is available
on Halifax 322215 and Jobcentre Plus can give
advice on Halifax 305000. |
