SUMMER AUDITION DATES ANNOUNCED
FOR NEW DANCE ACADEMY
Summer audition dates
for the new Calderdale College Dance Academy
have been announced
for Sunday 11 June, Sunday 25 June and Sunday
9 July. The Academy, to be run in partnership
with the Dorothy Stevens School of Dance
in Lightcliffe from September, will offer
a two-year full time course for 16 – 18
year-olds with two days a week dance training
free of charge, combined with academic and
vocational qualifications.
“There are 25 places for young people
with natural talent and ability as well as
those already trained to high levels. Contemporary,
tap and jazz dance will be taught in conjunction
with classical ballet”, explained Miss
Stevens.
A range of A-levels is on offer and vocational
qualifications can include a BTEC in Dance,
Performing Arts and Musical Theatre. Students
will be able to progress to degree and masters
levels with a Foundation Degree in dance,
choreography and dance instruction. Those
