SUMMER AUDITION DATES ANNOUNCED FOR NEW DANCE ACADEMY

Summer audition dates for the new Calderdale College Dance Academy have been announced for Sunday 11 June, Sunday 25 June and Sunday 9 July. The Academy, to be run in partnership with the Dorothy Stevens School of Dance in Lightcliffe from September, will offer a two-year full time course for 16 – 18 year-olds with two days a week dance training free of charge, combined with academic and vocational qualifications.

“There are 25 places for young people with natural talent and ability as well as those already trained to high levels. Contemporary, tap and jazz dance will be taught in conjunction with classical ballet”, explained Miss Stevens.

A range of A-levels is on offer and vocational qualifications can include a BTEC in Dance, Performing Arts and Musical Theatre. Students will be able to progress to degree and masters levels with a Foundation Degree in dance, choreography and dance instruction. Those interested in attending the auditions should contact Elizabeth Neave at Navigator Educational Services on 01274 421672.
