CHARLENE CRUISES INTO LUXURY BEAUTY JOB
Newly qualified beauty therapist Charlene Thewlis
has landed the job and trip of a lifetime with
Steiner Spas on board luxury cruise liners. Charlene,
just 18 and a student of Beauty Therapy at Calderdale
College for two years, graduating last summer,
won the prestigious job with Steiner against
stiff opposition from older and more experienced
beauty therapists.
Charlene travels to London
on Sunday (6 Feb) to begin up to 12 weeks study
at the Steiner Training
Academy before joining the ‘Carnival Sensation’ in
Florida and cruising around Grand Cayman, Mexico
and New Orleans on an eight month contract. She
will be offering therapies such as body wraps,
massages and facials.
“It’s a plum job and there was so
much competition that I was amazed when I got it”,
says Charlene who lives with her family at Low
Moor. “I’ve not had a lot of experience
so I must have had that little bit extra they were
looking for. I’ve been trained so well at
Calderdale College to do the right movements and
postures and that must have caught their eye”.
Charlene confesses to having itchy feet and says
that Steiner also has spas on land in exotic locations
such as Miami and Hawaii. After working for them
she should be able to get a job anywhere in the
world.
Tutor Andrea Sharp says “Charlene
really deserves this. She joined us straight
from school
and always looked the part. Her client care was
superb and she always put in a hundred per cent.”
