Greenland
by Howard Brenton.
The Studio Theatre, Calderdale
College, 7:30pm
5th and 6th April 2006
It is 1987; the general election
is in full swing and coming to its climactic conclusion.
To Joan this
is her big moment, the time her party are going to
crush the opposition, bringing a new order to the
British Isles. To Lord Ludlow this is the end of
all he knows and loves the end of an era. Until……
Greenland, an outright Utopia, a new world culture,
seven hundred years in the future, free of conflict
and oppression. A world populated by people without
fear. How will a handful of travellers from the twentieth
century cope with this new world?
Brenton takes these travellers on a fascinating,
and some times ludicrous, mental, philosophical and
emotional journey. With some very interesting twists
and turns.
This play is performed by
students studying on full-time performing arts
courses at Calderdale College. For
